In this Lesson we related the Whole Watermellon to a Whole Strip of blue paper, to a Whole written as the number 1. As Mr. Stathis cut the whole watermellon in half, we cut out paper strip in half and wrote the equilaent of having 2 halves equalying a whole. But a Half of a watermellon is too much for just 2 kids to each have. So Mr. Stathis cut it into quaters, we cut the paper in quarters and wrote 4/4's etc. Into Eighths, then 16th's and finally 1/32nd of a watermellon for each kid! ...Then, again our last "problem" and our last solution...We ate it!
We sure have fun learning!
"We're being good, Mr. Stathis...We' did all the Numbers.....uhmmm...this Watermellon is calling my name!"
"Yes. We each have 1/32nd of that Whole Watermellon!"
"This Fraction of a Whole Watermellon is looking juicy!"
"This is Math? Well, that's the kind of Math that makes sense to me!""
"Aha! It's not 1/32nd any more...I bit it!"
Fractions are JUICY!""
"Ahhh. Just what the Doctor ordered!"
Whoa! Marquis and Barrett! When we talk about a "Whole thing" that doesn't mean to stuff the whole thing in your mouth at once!
"Is this Math or Lunch?"
Good and Healthy!
